1. Find the completed APK
Open the Downloads list in the browser you used. If the transfer still shows a progress bar, wait for it to finish. You can also look in the Downloads folder in your phone’s Files app.
Check the file name and the source page. A web page saved as a file is not an installer. If the download failed, return to the APK download entry and start a fresh transfer.
2. Review the file and installation prompt
Open the completed file. Android should show an installation screen with an app name and the action it is about to take. Compare that information with the download source before continuing.
If your phone asks whether a browser or file manager may install apps, review the request for that specific app. Only grant the permission when you trust the source, and turn it off again after installation. Keep device security checks enabled.
3. Finish installation and open the app
Follow the installer and wait until it confirms completion. Open the app from the installer or your phone’s app list. Download completion alone does not mean the app has been installed.

If Android cannot install the file
Read the exact error. An incomplete file, insufficient storage, unsupported Android version or a conflict with an existing installation can each require a different fix.
For a package conflict, use the update guide before removing anything. For other messages, use download and installation help. Do not turn off security protections to force installation.
